The European CIVITAS network has recently established the CIVITAS Educational Network, bringing together universities from across Europe. At the same time, CIVINET Greece–Cyprus, since its very foundation, has set up a Scientific Committee with more than 40 members from across Greece and Cyprus.
Throughout its journey, the CIVINET team members have:
- Delivered workshops and educational activities in schools of all levels, most notably the Climate Festivals organised in five municipalities (Agios Dimitrios, Vari Voula Vouliagmeni, Heraklion Attica, Heraklion Crete, and Karpenisi).
- Delivered lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the National Technical University of Athens, following invitations from academic staff.
- Trained professionals from Greece and abroad through workshops and webinars organised either by CIVINET itself or by partner organisations within the framework of European projects (ELTIS, CIVITAS projects, Interreg MED projects, etc.).
- Developed the e-course «Tourism and Mobility in the Mediterranean» for the Interreg Euro-MED Academy.
- Contributed to the production and translation of numerous guides and educational manuals, including those on Urban Street Redesign (Municipality of Athens, MOU S.A, Ministry of Environment and Energy), the Electromobility in the Mediterranean, Soft Mobility, Tourism, Circular Economy and Climate Change (Interreg MED), Urban Vehicle Access Regulations UVAR in city centres (ELTIS) and the Sustainable Island Mobility Plan (SIMP) (CIVITAS, Πράσινο Ταμείο, Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου) among others.
- Organised a multi-month Mobility Academy, combining online and in-person experiential learning activities in Thessaloniki, Zagreb, and Ljubljana.
- Organised a three-day experiential Circular Tourism programme in Aegina.
- Contributed to the organisation of the CIVITAS Summer Course in Rethymno.
- Organised three international conferences and one national conference with numerous workshops and educational sessions (1st & 2nd CIVINET Forum, Mediterranean Mobility Forum, Attica Green Expo).
- Supported 18 Greek local authorities in participating in the semi-annual SUMP Learning Programmes of the CIVITAS SUMPs-UP.
In addition, CIVINET team members hold postgraduate degrees and have completed doctoral dissertations, while some also serve as teaching staff at the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, EKDDA.
