SPINE: a new flagship EU project for public transport with CIVINET Greece-Cyprus and the city of Heraklion

What is SPINE?

It is a four-year Horizon Europe project, aiming to promote the goals of Mission 100 Climate-Neutral & Smart Cities and CIVITAS Initiative regarding public transport, involving 39 partners from 16 countries with a budget of 14.6 million euros.

The aim of the project is to strengthen public transport through smart technological solutions, new synergies and innovative services.

The project will be implemented in:

  • 4 Living Labs: Antwerp, Bologna, Tallinn, Las Palmas
  • 7 Twinning Cities: Barreiro, Valladolid, Zilina, Sibenik, Heraklion, Gdynia, Rouen

Greek and Cypriot Participating Organisations

The Greek and Cypriot presence is particularly strong in the project, as well as the representation of the CIVITAS community, for which CIVINET Greece-Cyprus played a key role in the preparation of the proposal.

The organisations involved in the project coming from the two countries are:

CIVITAS is represented in this project by CIVINET Greece-Cyprus and CIVINET Slovenia-Croatia-South East Europe (ODRAZ).
