Using art as a tool towards to vision zero
An innovative campaign initiated by CIVINET Greece-Cyprus and co-funded by the Green Fund and several Municipalities and Regions will be launched in September in Agios Dimitrios (municipality of Athens Metropolitan Area). The Outta Climate Festival brings climate crisis, road safety, youth, and culture into the spotlight.
Both kids and adults will be engaged in the Outta Climate Festival’s rich program that features morning asphalt art interventions outside schools and afternoon music and dance performances in major public spaces.
The “asphalt art” technique is a special kind of street art created on asphalt. Its purpose is to attract the attention of drivers, to encourage speed reduction and propose street redesign for the benefit of pedestrians, cyclists, and people with reduced mobility (schoolchildren, elderly people, people with disabilities, parents with young children).
Responsible for the asphalt art interventions is the internationally renowned artist “Soteur” who will guide the students of the nearby school on the asphalt art implementation during the morning hours of the festival.
The afternoon cultural programme will include performances by student groups and distinguished artists, members of the Jazz Solidarity Network.
The bands that will perform at the Festival in Agios Dimitrios (Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Asyrmatos Park are the following:
● Students Bands
● Panos Iliou and Stomping Ground telling & dancing the Blues
● Great for Healing
● Modified Dog
The next Outta Climate Festival is scheduled for November at Vari Voula Vouliagmeni Municipality, while in 2024 the festival will be held on the islands of the Attica Region, Heraklion (Crete), Karpenisi and Veria.
Participation in all activities of the "Outta Climate Festival" is free of charge for the public.
