Margarita Chondrou-Karavasili is a d.p.l.g. Architect of the National School of Fine Arts of Paris (ENSBA, PARIS), with a Msc.in Spatial & Urban Planning, University of Paris IV-Sorbonne and MSc.in Social Psychology, School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS, Paris). She was employee of the Ministry of Environment for 30 years in important executive positions, from strategic urban planning to Housing & Buildings efficiency & Bioclimatic-Ecological Planning. She has served as Environment Attaché to the Permanent Hellenic Representation in the European Union from 2001 until 2004 and President of the Working Party on the Environment of the Council of the EU (Greek Presidency - 1st half 2003). She has also served as General Inspector of the Environment in the newly established Hellenic Environmental Inspectorate, to the Ministry of Environment and Public Works. She has also been Scientific Advisor of the International Work Programme on Architecture & RES of the International Union of Architects (UIA-ARES). From the end of 2009 until September 2012 she had elected as the first Special Secretary for the Inspection of Environment and Energy of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. She have established and be President of the Non-Profit Organization "Citizens Inspectorate on Sustainable Development – CISD “ and she is Board Member of the Volunteer Organization ECOCITY. He has represented Greece in international and European organizations, committees and city networks. She has authored scientific books, articles and has published in the printed press, in scientific journals and collective volumes many articles and interventions on environmental and energy policy and sustainable development issues She speaks fluent French and English. She is now Special Councilor on Environment & Climate Change matters to the Municipality of Nea Smyrni .
