Sustainable mobility is crucial to societal and economic activities in the Mediterranean. It enables social and economic interactions within society, and facilitates commercial, touristic or leisure activities, while connecting territories, cities, regions and their communities.

The ambitious targets set by the European green new Deal will pave the way for the transformation of the mobility sector. Dependency on fossil fuels will be sharply reduced, transport alternatives and innovative planning will be developed, the potential the potential of mobility data will be unleashed and the death toll for all modes of transport will be almost zero.

The Urban Transports Community promotes territorial cooperation on sustainable mobility across the MED region and mainstreams their results through mentorship, knowledge exchange and training.

The undersigned support the community’s vision for : (i) safer, more inclusive and user-centered cycling policies; (ii) the use of data and the involvement of the citizens to foster ownership and build more adequate sustainable mobility plans; (iii) a balanced mobility offer for locals and tourists that puts sustainability at the center to reduce the pressure on the Mediterranean environment.

To this end, the undersigned support the Urban Transports’ Community in its mission to advocate for the promotion of sustainable mobility in the Mediterranean by facilitating the exchange of knowledge and political dialogue about decarbonizing mobility, by engaging in international networks and bring the Mediterranean voice to the discussions about sustainability, and by fostering the collaboration between stakeholders in the region.
